As Amanda Steege sat at the in-gate for the second round of the $50,000 WCHR Peter Wetherill Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular on Feb. 20 she watched the riders before her do increasingly handy turns and slices. Knowing that if she wanted a shot at winning she’d need to up the ante, Steege decided to make a call.

She phoned fellow hunter trainer Tom Wright and with his assistance came up with a new plan that would best suit her mount Lafitte De Muze. That last-minute strategy session proved to be the right call, as the pair topped the feature class of Week 6 of the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida.
