If anyone was concerned Charlotte Dujardin was going to be a one-hit wonder, stress no longer. She’s not been idle since Valegro’s retirement, and she wowed the judges this past weekend at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in England with a tremendous freestyle aboard the aptly named Mount St. John Freestyle.

The 9-year-old Hanoverian (Fidermark—Donna Gracia, Donnerhall) scored 81.20 percent in a confident program that made the most of her off-the-floor paces, impressive passage and extensions.

“That was only her second freestyle, and it’s not something we practice at home, so I am really happy,” said Dujardin. “Everything she does, she does so well, and I can’t ask for more, especially at this stage.”

Dujardin rode to the “How To Train Your Dragon” music that was originally made for Valegro. “It was Valegro’s very first music and brings back many memories and always gives me goosebumps,” she said. “And I just love riding to it.”

Dujardin also won the Al Shira’aa Grand Prix with Mount St. John Freestyle on 78.58 percent.
