The Washington Equestrian Center is pleased to announce its grand opening in Washington Depot, CT.  The privately owned and operated hunter/jumper barn, on 75 beautiful acres, offers intimate and high-quality boarding, training, lessons, rehabilitation services, sales and clinics.

Active entrepreneur Amy Nauiokas purchased the property in June of 2011 to bring a different level of service to the region.  “We wanted to introduce a more private, intimate experience to the local equestrian community, where riders and owners can board and train in a lovely setting, but also gain access to some of the best trainers and clinicians in the world”, said Nauiokas.  “We are hoping to build a community of people from all over the region who are committed to attaining the best service and training available for themselves and for their horses.”

Nikka Therrien, barn manager and head trainer, arrived in August to transform the property.  Therrien has over 20 years of training and teaching experience in hunter/jumper and equitation, and has managed riding and training programs for all ages and levels of horse and rider.  Nikka has worked with top pro trainers including Michael Matz and Todd Minikus, whom she assisted in training jumpers to grand prix level.  Her experience and network will enable the Washington Equestrian Center to attract clinicians from all over the world.
