Few advertising symbols are as iconic as the Budweiser Clydesdales, but the equine staples of the beer company’s Super Bowl advertising campaigns for over a decade may not be appearing this year.
Budweiser announced last week that the company would not run a Clydesdale commercial during the big game, but after public outcry, Budweiser has decided to give the horses a fighting chance.
For the first time, Budweiser is allowing fans to vote on which commercial to run during the Super Bowl. Competing advertisements include a commercial discussing Budweiser’s value as currency and another on ways to get a bartender’s attention. The Clydesdale commercial shows a fox-and-hound like friendship between a Clydesdale and a steer.
