The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is warning its members about a phishing scam in which an email about a “charity campaign” is being sent to members from an address that appears to belong to the organization.

“The email to which we were alerted was sent with the subject line ‘charity campaign’ from a @ushja.com address, which is not a legitimate USHJA email account,” USHJA said in a Tuesday email to members. “These emails are fraudulent and should be considered malicious.”

USHJA advises members not to click on any links in such an email, to report it by forwarding it to the Anti-Phishing Working Group at reportphishing@apwg.org, and mark it as spam.

Legitimate emails from USHJA will always include the organization’s physical address, a way to opt out of email communication and any sponsor relationships if sending an email on behalf of a sponsor. The organization never solicits funds for an individual member, never asks for credit card or Social Security information via email and never asks for payments to be made through a third-party service such as Venmo, PayPal or Zelle.
