Following two rounds of selection trials, United States Equestrian Federation officials have nominated Steffen Peters, Debbie McDonald and Courtney King-Dye to the U.S. Olympic Dressage Team.
Peters will ride Ravel, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Akiko Yamazaki. McDonald will compete with Brentina, Peggy and Parry Thomas’ 17-year-old Hanoverian mare. King-Dye plans to take the 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, Harmony’s Mythilus, owned by the Harmony Amateur Sports Foundation.
Four horses have been named as alternates. Fourth and fifth on the depth chart, respectively, are King-Dye’s and Peters’ reserve horses, Idocus and Lombardi. Leslie Morse with Kingston and Michael Barisone with Neruda will also serve as reserves.
All five riders and seven horses will head to Aachen, Germany, on July 10. The horses will all enter quarantine a week later.
The final rider ranking, based on performances after the USEF Selection Trials for Dressage, is as follows:
