USEF Names Athletes To Hermès Show Jumping Short List For Alltech FEI World Games

The U.S. Equestrian Federation has named 10 show jumping athletes to the short list for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (France). Athletes named to the list will compete on U.S. teams in Nations Cup competitions at CSIOs at Canada’s Spruce Meadows “Continental,” and in Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Aachen (Germany), Hickstead (England) and Dublin.

The following 10 riders have been named to the short list (in alphabetical order):

Lucy Davis (Los Angeles, Calif.)

Katie Dinan (Wellington, Fla.)

Margie Engle (Wellington, Fla.)

Jessica Springsteen (Colts Neck, N.J.)

McLain Ward (Brewster, N.Y.)

Selection was conducted over two phases with Phase I concluding in December 2013 and Phase II in April of this year.

Phase I

In accordance with the selection procedures for the World Games show jumping team, the four highest-ranked athletes on the December 6, 2013, Rolex/USEF Show Jumping Average Ranking List were named to the short list.

Phase II

In accordance with the selection procedures for the World Games show jumping team, the highest-placed U.S. athlete in the final overall standing of the 2014 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Final (France), who has not already been selected for the short list and finished within the top 10 was named.

Also in accordance with the selection procedures for the World Games Equestrian show jumping team, the three highest-ranked athletes on the April 25 Rolex/USEF Show Jumping Ranking Horse List have been named to the short list.

Robert Ridland, the show jumping chef d’equipe, in consultation with the selectors and team veterinarian will use discretion to name two athletes to the short list.
