Pending U.S. Olympic Committee approval, U.S. Equestrian Federation officials have named the following horse and rider combinations to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Eventing Team.
Five combinations will make up the U.S. Eventing squad for the 2008 Olympic Games, the equestrian portion of which will be held in Hong Kong, beginning on August 8.

- Phillip Dutton, West Grove, Pa., with Connaught, a 15-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding owned by Bruce Duchossois.
- Becky Holder, Mendota Heights, Minn., with Courageous Comet, a 12-year-old Thoroughbred gelding owned by the rider and Thomas Holder, Jr.
- Gina Miles, Creston, Calif., with McKinlaigh, a 14year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding owned by the rider, Laura Coats and Thomas Schulz.
- Amy Tryon, Duvall, Wash., with Poggio II, a 16-year-old Thoroughbred gelding owned by the rider, Greg Tryon and Mark Hart.
- Heidi White, Aiken, S.C., with Northern Spy, a 15-year-old English Thoroughbred gelding owned by the rider.
Four horse and rider combinations were named as reserves. These included:
- Bruce Davidson, Jr., Ocala, Fla., with Ballynoe Castle RM, an 8-year-old Belgian Warmblood-Thoroughbred cross gelding owned by Carl and Cassandra Segal.
- Phillip Dutton with Woodburn, a 13-year-old Thoroughbred gelding owned by Acorn Hill Farm.
- Bonnie Mosser, Unionville, Pa., with Merloch, an 11-year-old New Zealand Thoroughbred cross gelding owned by the rider and Margaret Egan.
- Karen O’Connor, The Plains, Va., with Mandiba, a 9-year-old Irish Thoroughbred gelding owend by Joan Goswell.
The horses remaining in the United States will ship to England on July 17 where they will join McKinlaigh, Poggio and Mandiba. These horses will enter quarantine on July 22 and ship to Hong Kong on July 30.
