The U.S. Equestrian Federation’s High Performance Review, scheduled for Oct. 23-24 in Omaha, Neb., has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts.

“A revamped review will take place over the remainder of this year utilizing a series of conference calls,” stated a release from the USEF.

The event—scheduled to host 50 top riders, trainers, veterinarians, physiotherapists, team managers, chefs d’equipe, coaches and more from all eight international disciplines—was designed to “share their knowledge and expertise on ways to improve equestrian sports in the United States, and to develop strategies for riders who aspire to ride internationally for the U.S. and compete in international competition such as the World Cup, World Equestrian Games and the Olympics.”

“This was an ambitious undertaking that we felt would be extremely helpful to our long-range planning for sustained success in international competition,” said USEF Director of Sport Will Connell. “The challenges of bringing together in excess of 50 people, in one place, are huge. But we remain committed to the concept and will seek ways of overcoming these challenges in the future.”

The event was scheduled to include clinics with trainers and U.S. coaches like Robert Dover, Debbie McDonald, Robert Ridland, George Williams and Anne Kursinski, in addition to a forum on bringing the 2017 FEI World Cup Finals to Omaha and other educational events.

“We want to thank Lisa Roskens and the Omaha Equestrian Foundation for stepping up and offering to host the event,” Connell said. “Once we work through the challenges and get the program going, we will see if we might be able to meet in Omaha sometime in the future.”
