The U.S. Equestrian Federation has announced the athletes selected to represent the NetJets U.S. Jumping Team for the FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final, taking placing Sept. 28-Oct. 1 at CSIO Barcelona. The team, led by Chef d’Equipe Robert Ridland, includes the following athletes:
- Karl Cook (Rancho Santa Fe, California)
- Laura Kraut (Royal Palm Beach, Florida)
- Devin Ryan (Long Valley, New Jersey)
- Jessica Springsteen (Colts Neck, New Jersey)
- McLain Ward (Brewster, New York)
The CSIO Barcelona begins Sept. 28 with the first FEI Jumping Nations Cup competition. The top eight teams from Thursday will move on to the Oct. 1 final. On Sept. 30, the second FEI Jumping Nations Cup competition, the Challenge Cup is open to all teams from the Thursday competition who did not qualify for the final. The Oct. 1 third round, the final, will determine the FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final winning team.
The Nations Cup Final is one of two remaining opportunities for the U.S. Jumping Team to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. To qualify for Paris based on their performance at the Nations Cup, the U.S. team must be the highest placed team among countries who have not yet qualified. If they do not secure qualification in Barcelona, the team will have a final opportunity at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, from Oct. 31-Nov. 3. To qualify at the Pan American Games, the U.S. must be one of the top three teams not already qualified for the Olympic Games.
