Clarification: While Blenheim Equisports previously had 10 competition dates allocated on the 2024 USEF calendar, it only reapplied for seven of those dates and did not reapply to host previously licensed regional competitions, a USEF official said.

The U.S. Equestrian Federation has reallocated some hunter/jumper shows in California that had been scheduled to take place at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park under the management of Blenheim Equisports. The changes come in the wake of a tense few weeks in which the park was shut down due to the park management’s failure to perform infrastructure improvements outlined in a 2018 agreement and two shows were relocated to the Los Angeles Equestrian Center.

Blenheim Equisports originally had 10 shows scheduled to run June through September at Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park, including the Adequan/USEF Junior Hunter National Championships—West. On the new schedule Blenheim has five horse shows on the calendar, after applying to host seven. Among the shows that have been moved are the Adequan/Junior Hunter National Championships and accompanying equitation class the USHJA Gladstone Cup, which has been allocated to Del Mar Horse Park, run by HITS LLC. The Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Final—West has not been allocated yet.

“Following efforts to verify when the Riding Park would be permitted to resume equestrian operations, US Equestrian had no alternative but to remove all competitions from the calendar that were scheduled at the Riding Park, except for two that were relocated to another venue,” reads a press release sent out by USEF Monday afternoon. “Simultaneously, USEF began the process of seeking alternative competitive opportunities for competitors affected by the indefinite closure.”

The press release went on to say that after Blenheim EquiSports, run by The Ridland Group, announced that it had reached an agreement to reopen the park on May 20 with nonprofit clean water advocacy group Orange County Coastkeeper. In the meantime, the USEF reopened the competition application process to California shows and received 21 applications, including some from The Ridland Group.

The full schedule of shows within the mileage of the riding park through Sept. 22 follows:
