USEF Announces Eventing Winter Training List

The U.S. Equestrian Federation’s Eventing High Performance Committee has approved the following horse and rider combinations for the Eventing Winter Training List. These riders will have the opportunity to train with Chef d’Equipe, Capt. Mark Phillips and Laura Kraut, a member of the U.S. Show Jumping Team, in preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The U.S. Equestrian Federation’s Eventing High Performance Committee has approved the following horse and rider combinations for the Eventing Winter Training List. These riders will have the opportunity to train with Chef d’Equipe, Capt. Mark Phillips and Laura Kraut, a member of the U.S. Show Jumping Team, in preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games.
 
The winter training sessions are an opportunity for riders to fine tune skills. Some of the riders on this winter training list may receive USEF training grants to aid in their preparations for the Olympics and other future international championships.
 
The riders on the “A Squad” include:

  • Kristin Bachman, Lovettsville, Va., with her own Gryffindor, a 13-year-old Thoroughbred gelding
  • Stephen Bradley, Leesburg, Va., with Charlotte Harris’ From, a 14-year-old Russian Thoroughbred gelding
  • Heidi Carty, Aiken, S.C., with her own Northern Spy, a 14-year-old English Thoroughbred gelding
  • Phillip Dutton, West Grove, Pa., with Acorn Hill Farm’s Woodburn, a 9-year-old New Zealand Thoroughbred gelding
  • Phillip Dutton, with Ann Jones and Shannon Stimson’s Truluck, a 10-year-old Thoroughbred gelding
  • Phillip Dutton with Ann Jones’ The Foreman, an 11-year-old Throughbred gelding
  • Gina Miles, Creston, Calif., with Thomas Schulz and Laura Coats’ McKinlaigh, a 13-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding

  • Karen O’Connor, The Plains, Va., with The Theodore O’Connor Syndicate’s Theodore O’Connor, a 12-year-old Thoroughbred-Shetland-Arab gelding
  • Karen O’Connor with Joan Goswell’s Mandiba, and 8-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding
  • Karen O’Connor with Jacqueline Mars’ Hugh Knows, an 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding
  • Amy Tryon, Duvall, Wash., with Mark Hart’s Poggio II, a 15-year-old Thoroughbred gelding
