USEF Announces Autumn Eventing Competition Grant Recipients

The U.S. Equestrian Federation has announced the recipients of the Land Rover/USEF and USET Foundation eventing competition grants for the Millstreet International Horse Trials CCI***, Aug. 23-27 in Cork, Ireland; Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials CCI****, Aug. 31 – Sept. 3 in Stamford, England; Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials CCI***, Sept. 13-17 in Woodstock, England; Military Boekelo-Enschede CCIO***, Oct. 5-8 in Boekelo, the Netherlands; and Etoiles de Pau CCI****, Oct. 25-29 in Pau, France.

Land Rover/USEF Competition Grants have been allocated to the following athlete/horse combinations:

Hannah Sue Burnett (The Plains, Va.) and Under Suspection, Mary Ann Ghadban’s 13-year-old Holsteiner mare for the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials

Buck Davidson (Ocala, Fla.) and Copper Beach, Sherrie Martin and Carl Segal’s 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding for Pau

Phillip Dutton (West Grove, Pa.) and I’m Sew Ready, John and Kristine Norton’s 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, and Mr. Candyman, Ann Jones, Bridget Coleman, Caroline Moran and Thomas A Tierney’s 10-year-old Holsteiner gelding for Pau

Lauren Kieffer (Middleburg, Va.) and Veronica, Team Rebecca LLC’s 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare for the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials

Boyd Martin (Cochranville, Pa.) and Steady Eddie, Denise Lahey, Pierrie Colin, and George and Gretchen Wintersteen’s 14-year-old Australian Thoroughbred gelding for the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials; grant to be split with Crackerjack, Lucy Boynton Lie’s 14-year-old Thoroughbred gelding for Pau

Lynn Symansky (Middleburg, Va.) and Donner, The Donner Syndicate LLC’s 14-year-old Thoroughbred gelding for the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials

The following athlete/horse combinations have received Jacqueline B. Mars Developing Rider Grants, given through the USET Foundation.

Caroline Martin (Ocala, Fla.) and Pebbly Maximus, her own and Sherrie Martin’s 14-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding and The Apprentice, Sherrie Martin’s 13-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding for the Boekelo CCIO***

Doug Payne (Aiken, S.C.) and Vandiver, Debi Crowley and Jessica and Doug Payne’s 13-year-old Trakehner gelding for the Blenheim International CCI***

U.S. Eventing Association Endowment Funding:

Jennie Brannigan (Reddick, Fla.) and Stella Artois, Cory Walkey, Beth Lendrum and Elsbeth Battel’s 9-year-old Holsteiner-Thoroughbred mare received the USEA Foundation Rebecca Broussard Developing International Rider Grant and will be competing at the Millstreet International CCI***. Stella Artois also was the recipient of the USET Foundation Connaught Award. Both the Rebecca Broussard Developing International Rider Grant and the Connaught Award were awarded to Brannigan in December for the 2017 competition year.
