U.S. Show Jumping Team Ties For Third In Aachen Nations Cup

The U.S. team of McLain Ward on Sapphire, Anne Kursinksi on Champ 163, Laura Kraut on Cedric and Beezie Madden on Authentic tied for third in the Mercedes Benz Samsung Super League Nations Cup at the Aachen CHIO (Germany) on July 3. 

The German team won handily, finishing with a total of 8 faults even without their anchor rider, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum on Shutterfly, jumping.  The Dutch finished on 20 faults for second place, while the U.S. and Great British teams tied for third with 21 faults each.

Ward and Sapphire jumped a clean round in Round 1, then had a foot in the water and a rail in Round 2.  Kursinski and Champ picked up just 1 time fault in Round 1 but had the drop score of 9 faults in Round 2.  Kraut and Cedric jumped to 5- and 8-fault rounds, while Madden and Authentic anchored the team with a 4-fault first round and a clean second round.
