“Ohlala is an 8-year-old mare that I got at the end of last year,” said Hough. “She is by Orlando, who is now standing in the United States, and her mother is by Cardento. I have had a good season with her in Wellington, [Fla.], and then she came to Europe where she won the Youngster Cup Final in Hamburg, [Germany], and also won a 1.50 class in Nörten-Hardenberg, [Germany].”

It was a good day for the two American riders in the 1.55 RWE-Preis von Nordrhein-Westfalen as well. Laura Kraut and Cedric (Chambertin—Cortina, Carolus I) ended third, and Lauren Hough was fourth on Blue Angel (Luidam—Astrid, Ascendant).

“With the Grand Prix on Sunday in mind, I did not push Cedric to the maximum today; instead I let him go in his own pace. Cedric feels great at the moment,” said Kraut after the jump-off.
