Ocala, Fla.—March 23

The first round of the Longines League of Nations Ocala has concluded, and the United States is in the lead on zero faults. Three team riders: Laura Kraut (Baloutinue), Kent Farrington (Landon) and McLain Ward (Callas) jumped clear. Aaron Vale had fence 5 down with Carrissimo 25 and was the drop score.

Ireland and the Netherlands also have zero faults, but the U.S. team’s combined time of 206.38, the fastest of the zero-fault teams, puts them in front. The first three riders for Ireland jumped clear, so their anchor rider, Cian O’Connor, elected not to jump Maurice in the first round.

Three teams, Brazil, Sweden and Great Britain, had 12 faults. As Sweden and Great Britain have the slower times, they will not be among the eight teams to advance to the second round.

Only three riders on each team moving forward will jump in the second round, with no drop score. For Team USA those three riders will be Kraut, Farrington and Ward. The second round is at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
