Two of the four members of the 2002 World Equestrian Games gold-medal event team will be working to defend their title in Aachen, Germany, Aug. 20-Sept. 3. Olympic individual silver medalists Kim Severson, of Keene, Va., and Winsome Adante will run in Aachen, along with their Olympic and 2002 WEG teammates, Amy Tryon, of Duval, Wash., and Poggio.

They will be joined by Heidi White, of Aiken, S.C., and Northern Spy and Jan Thompson, of Purcellville, Va., with Task Force. Thompson rode in the 2003 Pan American Championships, while White is a newcomer to international championships, but she brings a wealth of four-star experience with Northern Spy.

The four alternates, two of whom will also get to compete at the WEG, are: Will Faudree, of Southern Pines, N.C., with Antigua; Bonnie Mosser, of Kennett Square, Pa., with Jenga; Karen O’Connor, of The Plains, Va., with Upstage, and Stephen Bradley, of Leesburg, Va., with Brandenburg’s Joshua.

The squad will travel to England to train with Chef d’Equipe Capt. Mark Phillips, and the remaining two spots on the squad will then be chosen from the current list of four alternates. From the final team of six, four will be chosen to ride on the team, and two will compete as individuals.
