Currently, the U.S. stands seventh out of eight teams in the Super League. The lowest-placed team after the final will be dropped back into the regular Nations Cup league. The U.S. earned its Super League berth last year by winning the regular Nations Cup league.

Currently, France leads the series (44.3 points), with Great Britain (32.5), Germany (32.3), the Netherlands (29.5), Belgium (28.3), Ireland (25.5), USA (25) and Italy (10) behind. The final in Barcelona carries double points, so its results will be influential in the final standings.

The U.S. team, of Wylde, Garofalo, Kim Frey and Laura Kraut, was fifth in the first Super League at La Baule (France) on May 7. Then, Frey, Garofalo, Shelia Burke and Kraut tied for fourth at Rome (Italy) on May 28. Frey, Candice King, Garofalo and Kraut earned fifth at Lucerne (Switzerland) on June 4. Frey, Garofalo, Kraut and Wylde claimed fifth at Rotterdam (the Netherlands) on June 18. The Olympic team of Wylde, Beezie Madden, McLain Ward and Alison Firestone were second at Aachen (Germany) on July 16. At Hickstead (England) on July 23, Molly Ashe, John French, Garofalo and Lauren Hough were sixth. And at Dublin (Ireland) on Aug. 6, Ashe, Garofalo, Hough and Burke tied for third.
