Officials from the University of Connecticut, in Storrs, Conn., have quarantined all 72 horses in their equine program after positive tests for the equine herpes virus, or EHV-1, were confirmed.
The UConn stables are employing strict sanitization practices. All coursework involving horses, polo practice and other activities are suspended. A sale run by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture, scheduled for Jan. 20, has been postponed.
