Jorge Rodriguez-Ramirez, 47, of Vancouver, Wash., and Armando Sanchez Gallardo, 21, were found dead in a horse trailer on Feb. 23 in the HITS Desert Circuit parking lot in Thermal, Calif.

The two men had used a portable gas generator to keep them warm as they slept and had closed the windows of the trailer.  Authorities expected to perform autopsies on the men on Feb. 26, but Riverside County Sheriff Deputy Juan Zamora told The Desert Sun that Rodriquez-Ramirez and Gallardo appeared to have been overcome by carbon monoxide fumes.

Deputies received the emergency call at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning when the men were found unresponsive.  CPR and first aid were administered, but it was too late.  The grooms were sleeping in a trailer owned by Woodlawn Farms of Alberta, Canada.  Arrangements are being made to transport their bodies home to Mexico.
