Virginia Cooperative Extension and Blue Ridge Trailer Sales are pleased to offer a Truck & Horse Trailer Safety Day.  The workshop features expert advice and will be offered at two locations in Virginia’s horse country, April 16 in Ruckersville and April 17th Middletown, VA.

Are these some of the places you trailer your horses to . . . Horse shows? Trail rides? Lessons? We take our horses everywhere, either in our own rigs or with a friend or trainer. Safety of our horses should be the number one priority when trailering, yet trailer accidents happen and oftentimes could have been avoided. Come learn from the experts on trailer safety, maintenance and driving considerations while hauling! Also, need help backing or turning around your own rig? You can sign up for a trailer driving clinic with one-on-one instruction from professional drivers at the LFCC location.

Featured topics include:

  • Trailer Floor Plans and Usage: Slants vs. Straight Loads, Bumper Pulls vs. Goosenecks
  • Things to Consider When Buying a Used Trailer
  • Tow Vehicle Requirements for Different Trailers, Hitches, and Brake Controllers
  • Trailer Maintenance and VA State Inspection Requirements
  • Trailering Horses Safely

The program will be held at two locations for your convenience; Blue Ridge Trailer Sales in Ruckersville, VA and Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown, VA from 8:30am – 1:00pm. The registration fee of $25 includes attendees’ program materials, lunch and refreshments. Frederick County VA Equine Network members receive a $5 discount. Thank you to our sponsors and partners, Blue Ridge Trailer Sales, Frederick County Virginia Equine Network and the Lord Fairfax Small Business Development Center.
