“It is such a nice environment for the horses to be living and showing in. The facilities are wonderful, and showing in an open grass field, over a beautiful derby course is something that I look forward to during the show season,” shared top hunter trainer, Kelley Farmer. “I have now won the derby twice, and I truly think that my horses are happy because the atmosphere is so serene, so it allows for me to show content horses. When one of my horses has a day off, I take them on a nice walk on the hunt trails. We will undoubtedly be going back for years to come.”
Farmer and partner, Larry Glefke, trainer and owner of Lane Change Farm in Keswick, VA, not only have won two Traders Point hunter derbies, but they recently won the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival on April 1, 2012, with Taken. Last year Farmer piloted Bases Loaded to the tricolor honors at TPHCHS.
