Superstar AKON to Perform at The Stadium at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center on March 19th

February 10, 2010 – WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Angelstone Productions is pleased to present Pop and R&B superstar Akon, live in concert on Friday March 19th at The Stadium at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL.

 

The concert will be part of a dual performance event kicking off with the $25,000 Puissance, showcasing many of the world’s top Equestrian competitors, including US Olympic Gold medallists. 

 

Harshal Dave and Keean White, co-chairman of Angelstone Productions are enthusiastic to introduce a concert to the Palm Beach area, and feel that the dual format event concept will appeal to both show jumping fans and concertgoers.  “This will give families and students the opportunity to visit the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, many for the first time ever,” said Dave. “Having Akon confirmed to perform at this event will allow the sport of show jumping to reach a much wider base of fans within the Palm Beach region, and we are excited about introducing this type of format as the first of its kind on the beautiful grounds of the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.”

 

With worldwide sales of over 7 million albums, certified gold and platinum status in over 23 countries, hundreds of guest appearances (including a collaboration with Michael Jackson), and the record for the first artist to have the #1 and #2 songs simultaneously on the Billboard charts twice, Akon is surely a global sensation fit to headline the first of a series of concert events at the Palm Beach Equestrian Center.

Not only is Akon one of the foremost performance artists of our generation, but he also finds time to head up a number of philanthropic initiatives, including his charity (the Konfidence Foundation), which assists in funding projects in developing nations for the underprivileged.  Recently, Akon’s foundation has teamed with Peter Buffett to launch istheresomethingicando.com as a website to facilitate charitable giving through online donations.  The foundation has been successful in the last year, building an elementary school in Senegal. Work is underway on a new hospital.  He also recently headlined an event, “Pink Rock,” with proceeds to benefit Breast Cancer awareness.

 

Akon has recently partnered with Keri Hilson to on a charitable collaboration for his foundation entitled “Oh Africa,” which will run as the anthem for Pepsi Max’s campaign for the World Cup of Soccer to be held in South Africa.  

 

To coincide with Akon’s spirit of charitable activities, ASP president, Keean White has committed to donating a portion of proceeds from ticket sales for this event to benefit the Red Cross’ relief efforts in Earthquake ravaged Haiti.  White stated, “ASP and the show jumping community are eager to assist relief efforts in Haiti and facilitate charitable benefits to support the Red Cross in their work to improve and save lives.”

 

Akon will be performing hits from his repertoire of albums including recent Billboard hits off his new album, “Freedom” including: “Right Now (Na Na Na)” and “Beautiful”.

The opening act for the concert will be up and coming teen rock talent, Justin Carlos.  Preceding the concert, starting at 7:30 pm, will be the $25,000 Puissance (High jump with horses).

 

Keean White also adds, “We feel very fortunate to have a worldwide music icon perform at this great venue. We believe this event will create an opportunity for fans of all ages to come out to PBIEC who have never been before. This is a great way for us to educate the local community about our sport, and we are thrilled to have Akon become a part of this great sporting event.”

 

This will be the first mainstream performer to visit PBIEC. Tickets will go on sale February 20th at 10:00 am at  HYPERLINK “http://www.ticketmaster.comwww.ticketmaster.com.

 

There will be a limited amount of tickets available; therefore, it is advisable to purchase tickets early to what promises to be a sold out event.  Tickets are $48.00 and $98.00 with a portion of the event proceeds going to the Red Cross and their Haiti relief fund.  Very few VIP and private boxes are available for purchase as well.
