Salvino Withdrawn Before Olympic Games Freestyle

Adrienne Lyle announced Wednesday morning that she is withdrawing her horse Salvino from the evening’s Olympic Grand Prix freestyle competition for individual medals.

“This morning, Salvino did not feel quite like his usual self and last night’s historic team medal was an extraordinary accomplishment, and we are proud of the team’s incredible effort,” stated a press release from the U.S. Equestrian Federation. “Steffen Peters (San Diego) and Sabine Schut-Kery (Napa, California) will continue forward this evening to contest the FEI Grand Prix freestyle, as they look to achieve more personal bests for our program.”

The freestyle competition begins at 5:30 p.m. local time, 4:30 a.m. Eastern time, and can be watched live on NBC’s Olympic livestream. Highlights are scheduled to be televised at 3:45 p.m. Eastern on NBC.
