Rescheduled Gold Coast Opener Will Add CDI-W

Initially, when officials of the Gold Coast Dressage Association postponed their Gold Coast Opener due to the equine herpes virus, or EHV-1, outbreaks in Wellington, Fla., they weren\'t going to try and reschedule the CDI-W.

But after many competitors called asking that the CDI not be dropped, GCDA President Noreen O\'Sullivan-Flanagan was left with no choice but to try and reschedule the FEI event as well.

“This was a critical competition for many competitors,” said O\’Sullivan-Flanagan. “We got many calls from the competitors who needed the qualifier, and we were urged by [the U.S. Equestrian Federation] as well.”

The Gold Coast Opener and CDI-W, which was to take place Jan. 26-28 in Loxahatchee, Fla., at the Horse Park at the Equestrian Estates in White Fences, will now take place Feb. 16-18, at the Palm Beach Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
