Ralph Hill Injured At Poplar Place

Eventing veteran Ralph Hill was transported to the hospital by helicopter after a fall on cross-country during the Poplar Place Horse Trials, Mar. 24, in Hamilton, Ga.

He suffered multiple fractures after being thrown from the tack at question 11 on the advanced course when his horse, Reprint, misjumped the first of two large corners in the three-element combination. Hill was unconscious upon arriving to the hospital. Reprint returned to the stables uninjured.

Competition halted for an hour and the jump was removed for the remainder of the division. As of Sunday afternoon, Hill’s condition was reported as non-life threatening, but he is still under close medical care.
