New Organization Offers Valuable Resources: Education and Networking Across the Horse World

August 16, 2011 – San Diego, California, USA

The Professional Equine Grooms (PEG) announced today the launch of its website – www.proequinegrooms.com – and global affiliations as the first organization of its kind in the United States dedicated to providing resources, job listings, employment and educational tools, industry information and news for grooms.

The mission of Professional Equine Grooms is to acknowledge grooms as skilled individuals in their respective disciplines and to provide growth and educational opportunities across the horse world. The vision of the organization is to unite grooms across all disciplines with the support of trainers, owners, barn managers and all other employers in the equine industry.

The new website – www.proequinegrooms.com –  will be the ‘go to’ destination for all grooms to seek and share information.  PEG will use social media tools to unify the grooms community and share knowledge across its Facebook Fan Page athttp://www.facebook.com/proequinegrooms and via its Twitter account – www.twitter.com/proequinegrooms .

Liv Gude, Founder, noted “My own time as a groom showed me that it’s not one person alone that manages a horse, it’s many people, from riders to vets to massage therapists to farriers that work together for the common goal.  Other groups of professionals have their own resources and associations and now grooms have a place and network to connect with colleagues throughout the industry.

Professional Equine Grooms has already attracted extensive media attention and recognition with articles and affiliations. It has become an affiliate of the Horse Radio Network – www.horseradionetwork.com – and is being featured on several of its shows this week including the Eventing, Dressage and Jumping Radio Shows. On Friday, August 19th at 9:30 Eastern, Liv Gude will be a guest on the live HORSES IN THE MORNING show  – www.horsesinthemorning.com – along with professional groom, Max Corcoran who works for Olympic veteran eventer, Karen O’Connor.

“This is very exciting and I want to thank Liv for taking the initiative to form this group to help fellow grooms from all disciplines to have an outlet for resources that is so needed. Hopefully this website and the vision will allow for better recognition of grooms, and ultimately the horses that we are all so passionate about. I am eager to see what we can all do from here,” said Max Corcoran.

Chris Stafford, Host of the Eventing, Dressage and Jumping Radio Shows on the Horse Radio Network said, “I am delighted to support this initiative to enhance the status of professional grooms through education, positive action and increasing awareness. Having begun my career as a groom and later establishing the National Association of Grooms in the UK in the ’70’s, I know how important it is to raise the profile of grooms to gain the recognition and respect they deserve. Nowadays we have so many more networking and communication tools and the Professional Equine Grooms new website will be an important vehicle for grooms to address the many issues that are often overlooked in their workplace. I look forward to helping through my role in the media to raise the status of grooms across the horse world.”
