Peter Gray and Jon Holling are taking over the reins of the four horse trials held at the Florida Horse Park and have intentions to keep the events at the Ocala, Fla., location for a long time.
“It’s important to anyone who runs an equestrian business in Florida to keep the Horse Park going,” said Holling. “You can only sit on the sidelines for so long before you need to step in and try to do something about it.”
The Ocala Horse Trial (Nov. 19-22) will not have FEI divisions or the training three-day as originally planned, but Holling, Ocala, Fla., said that the April event would remain as scheduled.
“We want to make sure that whatever we are running makes sense,” said Holling. “Instead of jumping in with both feet into FEI divisions that are more intensive and require more manpower, we are going to make sure that we are offering high quality competition.”
Gray, Reddick, Fla., and Holling also intend to stick to the current schedule of four horse trials per year (Jan., Feb., April and Nov.) and plan on offering new tracks so competitors can continue to get a solid educational experience.
