Cesar Parra’s rising young star Donavan was euthanized after a severe colic attack on July 11. The Oldenburg stallion was 6.
Donavan was transported immediately to Running S Equine Veterinary Facility in Pottersville, N.J., where Greg Staller, DVM, operated, but he couldn’t be saved reported eurodressage.com.
Donavan had already accomplished much in his short life. He earned the highest score in the United States in the Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Eastern Selection Trials for 6-year-olds (N.J.) with Parra.
Before Parra imported Donavan (Diamond Hit—Consul mare) to the United States, he was the 4-year-old champion at the German Young Horse Championships and took home the reserve championship as a 5-year-old with Carola Koppelmann.
