The Fédération Equestre Internationale announced today, Sept. 13, that the organizing committee for the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Las Vegas has canceled the November class due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

“We understand that this last-minute cancellation is unfortunate and may impact those who have already made their plans to attend,” stated an FEI press release. “We sincerely apologize to all stakeholders, including riders, officials, sponsors and fans for any inconvenience caused, and are committed to ensuring a strong and successful series moving forward.”

The press release goes on to say that the FEI is evaluating the situation and will prepare a proposal for a “way forward.”

The class was to be held in conjunction with the Las Vegas National CSI5*, which takes place at the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa, Nov. 11-17. The show also features the Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships.

Competition manager Alexandra Zulia of Blenheim Equisports declined to answer questions about the cancellation, writing in an email that Blenheim representatives will address the situation later as they are focused on back-to-back horse shows at Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park (California)—the current Blenheim Fall Tournament and upcoming Blenheim International Jumping Festival.

“We are deeply disappointed by the cancellation of the Las Vegas leg of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup North American League,” said Todd Hinde, FEI director of jumping, in the press release. “However, we respect the decision of the organizing committee, and our priority now is to ensure the continued success of the series, providing top-level competition for athletes and fans across the remaining qualifiers. We’re looking forward to an exciting season, and a spectacular final in Basel next year.”

The Longines FEI Jumping World Cup North American League begins this weekend in Traverse City, Michigan.
