Nordic Lights Farm is pleased to announce their recent purchase of international grand prix mount Tackeray from Quainton Stud and Ben Maher of Great Britain. Tackeray was recently released from quarantine and will be traveling to their home base in Tomball, Texas. Eirin Bruheim will compete with the talented mount for Norway, and hopes to be prepared for World Cup Qualifiers by the end of the summer.

Tackeray is an accomplished grand prix competitor and recently won the $32,000 G&C Farm 1.45m Classic at the Winter Equestrian Festival with Maher in the irons. Bruheim is very excited about the recent addition to her outstanding string of horses and is looking forward to competing with Tackeray in the coming months.

“When we were looking at horses we found out Tackeray was available, so we tried him and I just fell in love with him,” explained Bruheim. “He was awesome. I had to try him in the FEI schooling so it was a little hectic, but he jumped all the fences perfectly and I fell in love.”

Bruheim continued, “Tackeray is a go getter. When I tried him, he just wanted to jump and go clean. That is an awesome quality in a horse, and I liked him just because of that.

Right now I just want to get to know him. I will probably do some Low Amateur jumper classes and then move to the High Amateur Jumpers in a month or two. I would like him to be ready to do the World Cups Qualifiers by August. Eventually I want him to be one of my top mounts in the CSI classes. I want to get to know him and be clean in those classes.”

Although she resides in Texas, Bruheim represents Norway at CSI competitions. “I told the Norwegian Equestrian Federation that I bought him and they were immediately very excited and happy,” she said. “Next year I would like to take him to Europe and compete for Norway at some international grand prix competitions.”

Bruheim concluded “I can’t wait to ride him again, I haven’t ridden him in a month since he has been in quarantine, so I am very excited and antsy.”

Nordic Lights Farm will show in Tyler, Texas, in April and May before heading east to compete during the prestigious Devon Horse Show (Pa.).

Nordic Lights Farm is a 70-acre establishment located in Tomball, Texas, that was founded in 2007 by the Bruheim family to help further the equestrian goals of 19-year-old Eirin Bruheim and 17-year-old Lene Bruheim. Both girls have worked their way up through the ranks and are currently competing at the top levels in the hunter and jumper divisions aboard their incredible string of horses.
