New Zealand Releases WEG Short List

Equestrian Sports New Zealand has released the most recent revision of their 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games eventing short list.

The list is split into an “A-squad” and a “B-squad.” The A-squad riders are denoted as those who have been deemed capable of a top 16 placing individually at the WEG, as based on recent performances. The B-squad is defined as horse-and-rider combinations capable of contributing to a top four team placing at the WEG.

Andrew Nicholson is the only rider on the A-squad with his three horses, Nereo, Avebury and Mr. Cruise Control. Nicholson was most recently fourth at the Luhmühlen CCI*** (Germany) aboard Mr. Cruise Control.

Mark Todd, Joe Meyer, Caroline Powell, Annabel Wigley, Clarke Johnstone and Jonathan Paget are on the B-squad along with Nicholson on Armada.

The complete list is available on Equestrian Sports New Zealand’s website. Rider’s performances will be monitored until Sept. 1, when the final selection will be announced.
