The U.S. Center for SafeSport has updated its suspension list to include trainer Barry Lobel of Bedminster, New Jersey.

Lobel, 73, was given the interim suspension on March 15, pending a full investigation over what the Center lists as “allegations of misconduct.” Lobel and his wife, Sandy Lobel, own and operate Ravens Wood Farm out of Bedminster. Barry has also served as a U.S. Equestrian Federation-licensed judge.

Barry is currently named as the defendant in a New Jersey lawsuit brought forth by a former student. The suit alleges Barry sexually abused several former students, including the plaintiff, in the late 1970s and early ’80s when the students were juniors competing in Barry’s program.

The litigation is ongoing, and Barry and his attorney did not respond to requests for comment.
