New Format For Eventing World Cup

The HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing officials have adopted a new format for 2010.

Riders will vie for points gained at World Cup events. After 12 CIC-W*** events in 10 countries across three continents, the 15 most successful riders will share a prize fund worth $180,000.

Fédération Equestre Internationale officials concluded that the new formula will be more compelling than running a final after the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, when many horses and riders will not be able to travel.

The new format is designed to provide a more internationally fair system. However, with two events in North America, two events in Australia, and eight events in Europe, it will be interesting to see if the point system will make up for this discrepancy
