Neil Shapiro

This top show jumper grew up on Long Island and represented the United States in the Olympics.  He’s pictured here on a horse that first knew success with Ben O’Meara in the irons.  The first one to send an e-mail to webmaster@chronofhorse.com with the correctly identified rider and the horse will win a prize.

Congratulations to Shelby Davidson!  She was the first to correctly identify the horse and rider as Neil Shapiro on Jacks Or Better.
In 1964 he won the Professional Horseman’s Association Championship with Uncle Max (a former rodeo horse) and won the Reserve Championship with Jacks or Better; it was the first time a rider had won both events.  He also won the Grand Prix of Aachen with Jacks or Better.  Shapiro represented the United States in the 1972 Munich Olympics.  He won a silver medal in the team event and an individual bronze medal.

There were many correct guesses this time.  Check back soon for our next Guess Who?
