Well this week has been quite the blast, let me tell ya! The whole barn has moved on from the camp and has been getting ready and competing at the Maryland Horse Trials 1 and 2.
There are a lot of benefits to working closely around numerous people and friends at True Prospect Farm, but then there are a few downfalls as well…like getting sick. I seem to be the latest of the crew to become one of the infected ones, and no I don’t mean with the flu or chicken pox. I was feeling a bit tired the last few days leading up to Maryland, and I just figured I’d been working a bit much. (When do horse people not?) Then I woke up pretty darn sick. I worked through the day and went to the doctor that night to find out, after they got the blood work back, that I have mono.
Turns out that sharing drinking cups with everyone in the barn is a really bad idea, especially when you know mono is going around.
Other than that, the Maryland Horse Trials went really well. All of Big Phil’s horses were great, and my young horse Cambalda won his first intermediate, which was exciting. Silva Martin has been helping us on the flat, and he has really stepped up to the plate!

I am including some interesting pictures of some of the joys of everyday barn life at Phil’s.
