Molly Parker Crosland, a top amateur hunter rider and horse show supporter, died suddenly on July 6. She was 54.
Ms. Crosland, Charlotte, N.C., graduated from St. Anne’s Belfield School in Charlottesville, Va., and attended East Carolina University (N.C.).
She began her long show career competing the successful amateur-owner hunters Dun Blew It and The Right Stuff during the early 1980s in Franklin, Tenn. During the ’90s she owned and showed some of the country’s most prize-winning chestnut mares, High Hearts, Juliette and her beloved Fine Print, with whom she won top ribbons in the amateur-owner division at New York’s National Horse Show held at Madison Square Garden.
Most recently, Ms. Crosland had enjoyed great success with a new string of mounts including Torch Song, Entourage and Ivy Road. Her love of horses and riding extended beyond the show ring too. She earned her colors with the Camden Hunt (S.C.) and could often be found exploring the trails of Camden’s hunt county during the off season.
