The first pair to go after the lunch break in the Bromont Three-Day Event CCI*** dressage, Loughan Glen and Clark Montgomery, grabbed the lead with 39.0 penalties.
Loughan Glen, an 8-year-old Irish Sport Horse by Limerick owned by Jessica Montgomery, Kathryn Kraft and Holly Becker, put in a forward and flowing test, complete with expressive lead changes. Loughan Glen and Clark, Fairburn, Ga., are fresh off advanced wins at the Pine Top Farm Spring Horse Trials (Ga.) and Poplar Place Farm March Horse Trials (Ga.). They also topped the CCI** at Fair Hill (Md.) last fall.

Rehy Lux and Leslie Law, the last pair to go before the break, moved into second place after their steady and harmonious test scored 42.3 penalties. Kristin Bachman and her veteran partner Gryffindor are sitting third, and Emily Beshear and Here’s To You are currently fourth.

Riders will contest Derek DiGrazia’s CCI***, CCI** and CCI* courses tomorrow. The CCI*** course contains 39 jumping efforts over 5,700 meters.
