Liz Halliday was injured Thursday in a cross-country fall with Shanroe Cooley in the $60,000 Adequan USEA Advanced Final at the USEA American Eventing Championships, which are being held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The incident occurred at fence 21B, a cabin, and Halliday “was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where they are providing care and treatment,” according to a statement from the U.S. Eventing Association.
The statement added that Shanroe Cooley, a 9-year-old Irish Sport Horse (Dallas—Shanroe Sapphire, Condios) owned by The Ocala Horse Properties LLC, “was assessed by the veterinary team on-site and was uninjured in the fall.”
In an update posted on Halliday’s social media at 8:13 p.m., Halliday’s family and friend shared that she had sustained a head injury in the fall and underwent surgery to relieve the pressure from the swelling in her brain.
“Her team of doctors felt the surgery went exceptionally well. Liz is in stable condition and currently resting comfortably,” the statement read.
