Lisa Dufresne is an experienced liberty trainer whose animals have performed across the United States at prestigious shows like Equine Affaire, Arabian Nights, and Ringling Bros & Barnum & Bailey Circus.  This unique form of training, where the animal is loose, or at liberty, is a crowd pleaser and is also a unique way that horse owners can bond and interact with their horses.  Dufresne is offering a special clinic between her shows on the road; the Liberty Horse Training Clinic will take place May 26-27, 2012 at Border Fox Farm in Wellington, Florida, where riders, trainers and owners can enjoy learning from an expert how to train and work with a horse at liberty.

“Liberty horse training is a great way to get tuned in to your horse, build a better emotional and physical connection, and have fun,” said Dufresne.  “I’ve trained liberty horses, zebras, camels, llamas, and even pigs!  Liberty training is a great option to change up your normal routine, and is something new and exciting for your horse.  For riders it helps them key into their horse’s mind and gives them a fresh new outlook.”

Dufresne has been working with and training liberty animals for over 20 years and her acts have been featured in all types of live entertainment shows both in the US and abroad.  She has trained single animal liberty acts all the way up to having ten animals working together in harmony.  She has had horses on stage at the Lincoln Center as part of the New York City Theatre Festival, and at the Van Wezel Theatre in Sarasota, Florida as part of a ballet.  She currently performs with her own show called Horses, Horses, Horses!, which features six different horse acts.

The clinic is open to all levels of riders, from beginners to professionals.  “Whether you’ve done liberty before or want to try something new, this form of training is fun and refreshing for both horse and rider,” said Dufresne.  “It’s great for horses in the later stages of rehab, and is a method for us to enjoy our animals in a different way.”

Sessions are $90 per 45 minute session; $25 per audit, with the second day free.  Lunch will be provided as well as an exhibition of Lisa’s latest project.  Overnight stalls are available at $20 per stall.
