Kraut Leads U.S. Team To Spruce Meadows

Laura Kraut, who won the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Hickstead (England) in late July, will lead the U.S. Nations Cup team to the Spruce Meadows Masters in Calgary, Alta., on Sept. 7-11. Kraut won at Hickstead on Anthem, but she\'ll be riding Miss Independent at Spruce Meadows.

Joining Kraut will be Beezie Madden, of Cazenovia, N.Y., on Authentic; Schuyler Riley, of Wellington, Fla., on Ilian; and Richard Spooner, of Burbank, Calif., on Hilton Flight.

The reserves are Norman Dello Joio, Anne Kursinski, Georgina Bloomberg and Kim Prince.

Despite its stature around the world, Spruce Meadows is not a Samsung Super League event since the Canadian team isn\’t qualified to participate in the Super League.
