Kentucky Horse Council gets new Executive Director

Lexington, KY, August 14, 2013 – After an exhaustive search, the Kentucky Horse Council announces the hiring of a new Executive Director.  Susan Schneider has real world experience with horses, business and law. Ms. Schneider will be a salutary addition to this important and innovative non-profit organization and will begin at the position on August 21, 2013.

Lexington, KY, August 14, 2013 – After an exhaustive search, the Kentucky Horse Council announces the hiring of a new Executive Director.  Susan Schneider has real world experience with horses, business and law. Ms. Schneider will be a salutary addition to this important and innovative non-profit organization and will begin at the position on August 21, 2013.   

Susan Schneider has roots in Louisville but most recently has lived and practiced law in North Carolina. While there, she served on both the Board of Directors and Executive Committees of the North Carolina Horse Council. Susan Schneider’s educational experience includes a Master’s degree in Business and a Juris Doctorate. She has non-profit experience, including a position as Land Protection Attorney with the Catawba Lands Conservancy. In addition, she is currently Treasurer of the Equine Law Section of the Kentucky Bar Association, is a racing official, and horse and farm owner.  Her personal equine interests include dressage, polocrosse and trail riding. 

Ms. Schneider succeeds Ginny Grulke, who retired after eight years as Executive Director at the Kentucky Horse Council.

“I believe that Susan can take KHC to the next level as an organization.  She will continue the educational activities we have been known for, but also expand our focus on policies, regulations and legal aspects which support a healthy horse industry in Kentucky.” commented Ginny Grulke, retiring Executive Director.

Anna Zinkhon, President of the KHC board, added,” We are excited to have found such a qualified individual to take the reins at the Horse Council.  There were many applicants for this position, but Susan stood out among them with her strategic thinking and public policy oriented skills.  We look forward to many more years of KHC growth under Ms. Schneider.”
