Kassandra Barteau Will Make Her World Cup Bid

Kassandra “Kassie” Barteau has earned bragging rights to almost every young rider honor available. But this three-time U.S. Equestrian Federation National Champion and North American Junior and Young Rider individual gold medalist had one more goal yet to reach before the end of her storied young rider career.

Barteau has always wanted to ride in the Young Rider World Cup Dressage Final in Frankfurt, Germany, and she’s finally received that invitation this year by averaging 73.37 percent in her two best young rider freestyle tests in 2009.

In her last year of eligibility, the 21-year-old from Maple Park, Ill., will ride GP Raymeister, a 10-year-old Holsteiner stallion owned by Ginna Frantz and Grand Prix Equestrian, in Germany, Dec. 17-20.

“I am very honored and excited to have this opportunity to represent the United States in the Young Rider World Cup,” said Barteau. “I plan on putting my best efforts into preparing myself and ‘Ray’ for our first international experience. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped make this long-time dream come true.”
