Japan Names Eventing And Show Jumping Teams For Olympic Games

The Japanese equestrian federation named the athletes that will represent the host country in eventing and show jumping at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The eventing team is:

• Yoshiaki Oiwa and Tullyoran Cruise JRA (reserve horse Calle 44)
• Toshiyuki Tanaka and Talma D’Allou (reserve horse Swiper JRA)
• Kazuma Tomoto and Vinci De La Vinge JRA (reserve horse Bernadette Utopia)

The traveling reserve is Ryuzo Kitajima and Feroza Nieuwmoed. Cekatinka JRA is Kitajima’s reserve horse. The non-traveling alternate is Kenki Sato and Shanaclough Contadora.

Two riders have been selected for the show jumping team:

• Eiken Sato and Saphyr De Lacs (reserve horse Chacanno)
• Daisuke Fukushima and Canyon

Two other pairs were selected, but the decision as to which will be part of the team and which will be the traveling reserve won’t be made until July 3:

• Koki Saito and Chilensky
• Taizo Suitani and Heroine De Muze

Mike Kawai and As De Mai are the non-traveling alternate.
