JANET POLK READ

Janet Polk Read, a show horse owner and dedicated supporter of the hunter/jumper community, died on Feb. 5 from heart complications. She was 64.

Mrs. Read was born in Detroit, Mich., and lived in Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Bloomfield Hills, Mich., before moving to Wellington, Fla., in 1995.

Janet Polk Read, a show horse owner and dedicated supporter of the hunter/jumper community, died on Feb. 5 from heart complications. She was 64.

Mrs. Read was born in Detroit, Mich., and lived in Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Bloomfield Hills, Mich., before moving to Wellington, Fla., in 1995.

A horse lover her entire life, Mrs. Read was an important part of the Wellington equestrian community and the proud owner of several accomplished hunters and jumpers. During her time in Michigan, she was a dedicated member of the Bloomfield Open Hunt Club and is remembered for her generous spirit, sharp wit and infectious laugh.

Mrs. Read is survived by her son, Christopher Read of California, her brother, Stephen Polk of Michigan, as well as four nieces, four nephews, three great-nephews and one great-niece.
