Irish Nations Cup Team Pledges Winnings to Haiti Relief

The Irish show jumping team has pledged to donate any prize money won at the Nations Cup in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) on Friday, Feb. 5, to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, reports Horse and Hound.

Irish team riders were struck by the devastation caused by the Haitian earthquake on Jan. 12 and wanted to make a contribution, according to Chef d'Equipe Robert Splaine.

Eleven national teams will take part in the Nations Cup competition on Friday, and first prize offers more than $47,000. Prize money is awarded through sixth place.

The Irish team includes Cameron Hanley, Dermott Lennon, Cian O’Connor and Billy Twomey.
