The Virginia Horse Center Foundation continues to offer showing opportunities for regional riders with its House Mountain Horse Show series. These shows will be held on May 28-29, June 28-29, July 12-13, and October 15-16.

Co-managers Molly Trimble Moore and L.M. “Sandy” Gerald have developed a schedule for the series that has something for everyone from 2’ Pleasure Hunters to 1.10 meter Level 4 Jumper divisions.  Spectators can enjoy watching Junior, Amateur, and Professional riders competing aboard many breeds as they vie for points towards year-end awards for the Southwest Virginia Hunter/Jumper Association and the Virginia Horse Show Association associate points.

Two exciting changes have been introduced for the May show. First, qualifying classes will be offered for both the $500 Invitational Hunter Stake for Green, Low and Working Hunters as well as the $250 Children’s/Adult Hunter Invitational Stake, hosted by the Virginia Horse Center at the July House Mountain Horse Show.  Second is a unique division for former racehorses called the Off the Track Thoroughbred Hunter. Winners of these classes will qualify to compete in the $1,000 After the Finish Line Hunter Stake at the Thoroughbred Celebration Horse Show on June 12, 2011, also owned and operated by the Virginia Horse Center Foundation. Information about these shows and many more can be found at www.horsecenter.org.

The Virginia Horse Center Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which owns and operates the Virginia Horse Center. The Foundation is proud to support a 600-acre facility that serves 400,000 people; functioning as a class room, land reserve, market place, and recreation venue. The VHCF manages 110 events annually, most free and open to the public, and hosts the Hoofbeats Therapeutic Riding Center.
