Horse Stabled At WEF Tests Positive For Respiratory Form Of EHV-1

The Equine Disease Communication Center reported on April 5 that a horse tested positive for the respiratory form of equine herpesvirus (EHV-1) at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. The horse was isolated as soon as it presented with a fever on April 1 and is being treated at an equine hospital. It is not showing neurologic symptoms.

The horse was stabled in Tent 17, and the seven exposed horses were quarantined. Increased biosecurity measures were put in place following the positive test result on April 2.
