The Guest Stallion Program at Hilltop Farm provides dynamic changes to our line-up each season.  In 2012, we are proud to welcome five stallions to this program, including two newly licensed stallions that will be available for breeding for the very first time.  Below is an introduction to each of our 2012 Guest Stallions. For more complete details, please visit our website or request our DVD and Stallion Book.

De Feiner Star (De Laurentis – Feiner Stern – Riverman)
Owned by Gregory Strait and Melinda Brown
Breeding Fee: $1200 LFG frozen semen
A new addition to the Hilltop Farm line-up in 2012!  De Feiner Star is sired by the elegant Hanoverian stallion De Laurentis (De Niro-Caprimond) who earned 9’s or higher at his Stallion Test for character, temperament, willingness to work, and his walk. Dam sire Feiner Stern was a Class 1 stallion that although he has produced 18 licensed sons, is especially regarded as a broodmare sire.  In 2010 De Feiner Star was the Stallion Champion and Reserve Champion Mature Horse of Dressage at Devon and in 2011 he won the Stallions Under Saddle and his Materiale class.  He’s also been a consistent winner in the FEI Young Horse classes with scores as high as 8.48 and is also winning at Second Level.  De Feiner Star was Champion of his ISR/Oldenburg licensing in 2011 with an overall score of 230.5 points, including scores of 8 or higher for type, trot, athletic ability, and jumping technique.  Licensed: ISR/Old

Don Hill (Don Gregory – Hill Hawk xx – Pik Bube)
Owned by Virginia Leary and Catherine Witt

A Bundeschampionat finalist who has competed successfully in the FEI arena in both Europe and the United States, Don Hill has already proven he has the movement and trainability needed to excel in the dressage arena.  His sire Don Gregory is a successful Grand Prix horse that has sired 10 approved sons and his dam line offers the valuable influence of Hill Hawk xx and Pik Bube.  Already fully-approved with the Hanoverian Verband and the American Hanoverian Society, Don Hill was presented to ISR/OldenburgNA in 2011 and was Reserve Champion Stallion at his licensing, including earning scores of 8 for his trot and athletic ability.  Don Hill was also named the Champion Stallion of Dressage at Devon in 2011. Approved: AHS & ISR/Old

Donarweiss (De Niro – Hohenstein – Archipel)
Owned by Starr Vaughn Equestrian Center
Breeding Fee: $1800 LFG frozen semen

Popeye (FS Pour l’Amour – Night Star I – Nobel)
Owned by Summit Sporthorses, Ltd.
Breeding Fee: $1100 LFG cooled or frozen semen

Popeye continues to exceed our expectations at each step in his career.  At his 30-Day test in Germany, Popeye earned 9.5 for his walk and 9 for character.  In 2007 he was the Reserve Champion for the USDF East Coast Stallion Final at Dressage at Devon.  He was the 2010 USDF All-Breeds Champion at Third Level for Westfalens and was the 2011 Reserve Champion for Fourth Level at the BLM Finals. Sire FS Pour l’Amour competed in the Bundeschampionat three times and has sired a number of approved sons and several highly decorated mares.  Grandsire Night Star I won his licensing and placed second at the Bundeschampionat for show jumping ponies in 1987. Popeye has sired a high percentage of Premium offspring and his oldest offspring are proving exceptionally easy to start and are already winning under saddle.  Approved: ISR Sport Pony & Westfalen
