Loxahatchee, Florida, USA. February 1, 2010.
Heather Blitz and Paragon marked their debut in competition with a comfortable win on a score of 71.5% in the Prix St. George at the Wellington Classic on January 30, 2010. The pair headed a field of 40 competitors before judge Sandy Hotz at the Jim Brandon Arena in Florida, while their victory drew critical acclaim. International dressage ‘S’ judge and competitor, Mary Ann McPhail, said, “Paragon is a serious contender as a team horse for the U.S.”
Heather was delighted with the 7-year-old gelding by Olympic Don Schufro out of a Pari line mare by Loran, whom she has owned since he foaled and has brought him on steadily while she was based in Denmark. The pair only resumed training a month ago when they relocated to Florida.
“I really couldn’t have asked him to be any better. He was completely honest and I’m very proud of him. He rode just like he does at home,” noted Heather. “I’m really looking forward to the next show as I feel the future for him is huge,” she added.
Paragon will be in action again on February 13th at the Wellington Spring Classic when he takes part in the Prix St. George and also the Developing Horse Test.
Paragon was bred by Richard Freeman Jr.III, owner of Oak Hill Ranch in Louisiana.
